Philips Selecon provides 'dynamic' LED system for Winslow Players

Philips Lighting, a Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX, PHIA) company and global leader in lighting, announces a full install of Philips Selecon PL LED luminaires into the performance space of amateur dramatic group the Winslow Players.
The Players wanted an up-to-date lighting system that was dynamic and easy to use as the performance space is host to a variety of activities," explains Reg Berry, Director at National Stage Technology (previously Lancelyn). "The Philips Selecon fixtures are ideal for their requirements as they are easily operated, offer super color mixing and consume much less power than the previous system."

Described by The Stage as a 'breathtaking masterpiece', Land of Our Fathers focuses on a group of Welsh miners trapped underground as Margaret Thatcher is elected. Kemp specified five PLprofile1 MK II and two PLfresnel1 MK II luminaires, using them to provide an underlay of saturated color to the various lighting states.
"We wanted to create a gritty, oppressive world, which becomes more heightened as the piece develops," explains Hartley T A Kemp. "The PLprofile1 MK II LED units were used to suggest light glistening off wet rocks, to help convey emotion especially during some of the more hyper-real sequences, and to add colour when needed."

International lighting designer Hartley T A Kemp has turned to the versatile color changing of Philips Selecon's LED range of luminaires for the world premiere of Peter Gill's new play As Good a Time As Any. "I was very impressed with the match to tungsten in the RAMA LED Fresnel, with the lack of warming at lower levels the only noticeable difference," says Kemp. "Sometimes this could be a hindrance but I can also see it being a help, especially when working with a white or pale set and wanting to maintain cleanliness of colour.
Rapenburg Plaza provides Philips Selecon colour changing solution for National Military Museum

King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands has opened a prestigious new cultural and historical institution at The Netherlands' former Soesterberg air base. The National Military Museum (NMM) is the largest of its kind in Europe and displays the significance of The Netherlands' armed forces. "The concept for the space is that each of the halls are interactive and follow a storyline," says lighting designer and Rapenburg Plaza partner Pelle Herfst. "We selected Selecon fixtures as excellent tools to achieve this. The DMX-controlled colour changing possibilities meant we were able to create a wide range of ambiences for the different thematic spaces. I am also very impressed by the optics of the PLprofile1."
St. Joseph's College upgrades to Philips Selecon PL LED range

St. Joseph's College has recently refurbished its much-loved chapel in a move to boost its technological offering with the installation of an array of energy-saving yet versatile Philips Selecon PL range luminaires.
