Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer select Pacifics to light great legs!

Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life” opened on Broadway on the 11th December, 2005; a musical stage show honouring a woman who throughout her 50-year career has been described as a ““true Broadway star” and “a force of nature”. This magical tour offers its audience a rare look into a time when great musical numbers in the theater were born, as related and performed by the woman for whom they were created celebrating some of her most stunning and legendary Broadway performances – from West Side Story to Chicago to Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Paramount in any lighting design that involves dance is the side / boom lighting that enhances the audience’s ability to see the intricate steps and body movements that a dancer is performing.

For Chita and her cast of ten this challenge fell into the hands of renowned lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer who recognised that the small Selecon wide-angle Pacific zoomspots were the solution to delivering the best high output with the control required for low sidelight.

"The (7) Pacific 23º-50º MSR 575-HR Zoomspots fitted with Pacific Dowsers worked perfectly as low sidelights for Chita Rivera, The Dancer’s Life, currently performing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway.

A unit located in each wing provided the modeling light for the dancer’s legs and torso which is so valuable to dance. It gave us the power of an automated fixture, without the bulk, allowing us to mount it close to the floor. The wide zoom range allowed us to tailor the beam spread for each shot.

It made a great contribution to our show."

Further proof that within the innovative, modular design of the Selecon Pacific range with its choice of 5.5-13, 12-28, 14-35, 23-50 and 45-75 Zoomspots, 5HE, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 90 Fixed Beams and 575/800W, 1000W, MSR575, MSR HR, CST250 and CDM light sources, together with the added dimming capabilities that the Pacific Dowser offers Selecon provides a solution for all your creative lighting challenges.
