CDMs and MSRs grace the Galerie des Glaces, Versailles

The Château de Versailles, or simply Versailles, is a royal château situated in Versailles, France which features, amongst other spectacular and historical attractions, the Galerie des Glaces or “Hall of Mirrors” which takes its name from the 357 mirrors it contains.

A comprehensive restoration of this tremendous masterpiece now classified as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites commenced in 2004. Sponsored by VINCI;  this was the biggest cultural sponsorship operation ever to be undertaken in France with the inauguration of the restored hall of Mirrors itaking place in 2007.

Part of the gallery remained open during the restoration process in the form of a temporary tunnel inside half of the Galerie des Glaces which allowed work to be carried out above and around it while visitors were able to view both the gallery pieces and the restorations.

Lighting seven chandeliers from the ceiling in this temporary tunnel were 28 Selecon Pacific luminaires with each chandelier being lit with one Selecon Pacific 20° CDM 150W and 3 Selecon Pacific 20° MSR 575W luminaires.

Our thanks to Jean Louis Pernette from Avab transtechnik France for supplying this Selecon installation and for the project background.
