Nick Schlieper uses 80V Pacific Projection for Andrea Chenier

Leading Australian lighting designer Nick Schlieper has lit productions for all the major performing companies in Australia as well as working regularly in Europe. His 2004 programme included works for the Sydney Theatre Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre Company, Opera Australia and the first Australian production of Wagner's Ring of the Nibelungen for the State Opera of South Australia (lighting design and associate set designer). Nick also lecturers in design at the Theatre Academy in Munich each year.

For Opera Australia's production of the Romantic masterwork Andrea Chenier in Sydney Nick was one of the first lighting designers to incorporate the use of the Pacific 80V power system to achieve spectacular results for this production.

Nick replaced a PANI projector with a Pacific 80V 90° Fixed Beam ellipsoidal with a glass gobo to project 9m x 5m clouds from the rear of the Sydney Opera House despite a throw of only 7.5m during Act 1 Scene 2 (pictured).

He also made use of a Pacific 5.5°-13° 80V Zoomspot from the dress circle in the final scene lighting the guillotine - the red background was created by three 5kW luminaires at point blank range which still did not wash out the 80V projection of the clouds!
