03 October 2014,

ETNZ wishes to invite you, any staff member, casual worker, volunteer, or anyone you know who may be interested to hear about the proposed new Entertainment Industry technical training scheme currently being set-up by ETNZ.

This training will be open for any persons wishing to make a career or up skill themselves in Entertainment and Event Technology. The training will be recognised by NZQA and level 4 Certificate and level 6 Diploma courses will be starting in 2015.

The range of training subjects will include:
• Rigging
• Sound
• AV
• Stage Management
• Lighting
• Stage Mechanics
• Scenic Construction and Props

The training is intended to be ‘on the job training’, managed through an Industry Training Organisation (Skills Active), who have been develop ing the qualification with ETNZ. It is expected that volunteers (eg MTNZ members) active in the Entertainment and Event Technology area will also be able to work towards achieving the Certificate courses.

Alongside the training program, ETNZ and Skills Active will be running a program of RCC (recognition of current competence) for all those practitioners who have been actively working in the Entertainment Industry for a number of years.

During this evening presentation, ETNZ will outline the course structure, give a basic outline of the actual course material and discuss the means of delivering the training, and achieving the qualifications. And of course, there will be many questions, which we will endeavour to answer as best we can!
