Grant Bales-Smith Joins the Philips Entertainment team in Europe

Grant-Bales-SmithPhilips Entertainment is pleased to announce the appointment of Grant Bales-Smith (left) to the newly-created position of Sales Manager – UK, Benelux & Scandinavia, commencing 1st February 2010.

Michael Goldberg, Sales Director for Europe commented on Grant's new role with the company, "the formation of Philips Entertainment as a global group provides us with a great opportunity to continue establishing and building the brands of Strand and Selecon in the European market as leaders in their field. Grant joins us at a time of renewal for Strand and he will lead the sales force in the UK, Scandinavia and Benelux to re develop a strong dealer network to increase our market share and push new products forward."

Grant has a solid performance lighting background, dating back to his early teens where he worked part time in a local theatre whilst studying and discovered that this was the industry that he wanted to work in. His career started at the age of seventeen working in the hire department for the Salisbury-based Sales and Rental company, Stagecraft Ltd where he had a great time learning the ropes, but soon found an interest in sales and left to join Lancelyn Theatre Supplies in Oxford as a Sales Engineer to broaden his skills and experiences. Grant returned to Stagecraft when an opportunity arose to run the sales and projects office, putting his new skills to good work running a small but busy department and team of six.

For the past eight years, Grant has been working for Zero 88, initially taking responsibility for the UK market before accepting the further challenge as UK and Southern European Sales Manager, running the distribution in these areas.

Grant is excited about the possibilities that this new chapter in his career offers, saying, "Philips is an exciting venture, there is so much heritage in the brands within the Philips Entertainment group portfolio. Bringing these brands and wide range of technologies together, backed up with the Philips core values and branding which we can all associate with, provides a powerful set of tools on which to build this business.
