Philips Selecon at PLASA 2009

21 September 2009,

The Philips Entertainment Group hosted Philips Selecon's annual pre-PLASA event for lighting designers, dealers, distributors and colleagues from the lighting industry at the penthouse in New Zealand House where the best summer views over the city of London can be enjoyed.

Our 120 or so guests were greeted by the amazing New Zealand Kapa Haka group, Manaia who delivered the traditional Maori welcome to everyone followed by a spine-chilling challenge which was taken up by Kei Den Das, Chairman of Philips North America and Steve Carson, CEO for Philips Entertainment.

This pre-Show event marked the celebration of the acquisition of Selecon into the Philips family and the merging of Strand Lighting in Europe and Selecon into one logistics and customer service centre located in The Netherlands.

Plasa 2009 marked the launch of Philips Entertainment Lighting Group, which included the recently acquired Selecon Lighting. The synergy of the group was easy to see and appreciate on the stand with control products from Strand, luminaires from Selecon and moving lights from Vari+Lite.

Although the show seemed quieter than previous years, not a surprise considering the global economy, Philips noticed a large and continued attendance on the booth. Particular interest was shown toward the SDP display profile from Selecon and the VLX from Vari+Lite.
