Cycs deliver punch and coverage for Cowichan Theatre

Selecon Cycs for Cowichan Theatre

The Cowichan Theatre on Vancouver Island in Canada is one of the finest performance and conference facilities in British Columbia. It is a multi-use theatre complex which can accommodate a wide variety of performance and convention needs and has played host to thousands of events since its opening in 1978. From Ireland’s Spirit of the Dance to Edgar Winter, from the stars of the N.Y. Metropolitan Opera to Kris Kristofferson, from the Golden Dragon Acrobats to Liona Boyd and Neil Diamond, the technical needs of this 731 soft seat venue are as diverse as the artists and community groups who command its stage.
After reading about Selecon instruments in “Selecon Performance Lighting News” and speaking with industry colleagues, Technical Director Brent Classen approached Western Canadian dealer, Johnson Systems Inc. for a demonstration of the Selecon cyc light.

Based on the performance of this fixture, Brent purchased the Aurora 4-way linear cyc units, single cell cyc units  as well as 4-way groundrow units with Socapex connectors, much to the appreciation of Head Electrician Dave Barton who comments, “These cycs are not only very versatile but they have excellent coverage and punch – and colours can be seamlessly blended.”
